For the first time since 1920 The New York Times has run an editorial on the front page of the paper. The last time they did so was in June 1920 and the topic was political as it lamented the nomination of Warren G. Harding. In our opinion, and it is not the norm for us to take political stances, the editorial below is not political, but simply a matter of life and death. Like most people, we are frustrated and morally outraged that neither the President, nor the Congress, has stepped in to fight this epidemic of killing that has gripped our nation. There is no more important issue to be dealt with today.
