While people pass through our doors every day only a small percentage of them ever ask about our mezuzah. But for those
of you that do, here is the explanation. A mezuzah is two chapters of the Jewish Torah written on a piece of parchment. The parchment is then placed in a case (such as ours pictured above) and affixed to the doorposts of homes and businesses.
The true reason for a mezuzah is to identify Jewish homes and businesses, and follow the scripture that suggests to inscribe the words of the Torah on the doorposts of your home. However, many see the mezuzah as a symbol of God’s watchful eye over a home or business, acting to protect the inhabitants. We’ll go with a little of both…
