The Philosophy of Tzedakah

 
Tzedakah is a Hebrew word that translated literally means justice or righteousness. The common use of the word today relates more to charity, but refers to Tzedakah as an obligation, and not just a donation. Often it is explained to students as the obligation to do what is right and just, or explained simply as taking care of those around you and around the world.
